Doris’s Audio Colour

There is something profound about well composed and well delivered music. The way the vibrations touched the soul, the mind the heart and the whole body. One must not even know the music instruments or understand the language, yet it is still capable of carrying the very essence and feelings of the composer to the audience. It is comparable to an expressive piece of art.

One melody, one symphony, one song would make one’s heart merry producing the effects of movement expressed in dancing, clapping or just snipping of fingers to the rhythm. The other relaxes the mind, soul and the body in a trance like state while the other pierces right through the very heart leading to a state of sorrow and even making one bawl out tears from the soul.

It is fascinating how music manages to bring out different emotions to different individuals. The same melody draws one into the abyss of sadness and despair while uplifting the hopes and dreams of another. My observation is that, depending on the emotional state of an individual, music sound and gives meaning to different things, it is a kind of an amplifier of the very state we are in at the time.

What captivates me the most is that music tends to go deeper into the psyche of an individual as it meanders like a river through the reminisced people, places or events, highlighting a stored away remembrance bringing forth the individualistic meaning to the music. What fascinates me even more, is how music we have never heard before is able to do the exact same thing, vibrating through the body awakening senses and bringing healing to the very essence of who we are.

I have always been fascinated by many kinds of art, that’s why you will find me in museums, theater hall, concert halls music festivals e.t.c for all kinds of events.

There is something exciting about sculpturing. Being able to see a piece in a tree trunk, a stone, metal or clay like the works of Auguste Rodin or Camille Claudel. There is also something intriguing about paintings, being able to bring life to everyday sceneries and going beyond human imagination. Allotting deeper meaning to mere words through poetry like the works of Maya Angelou. Writers like Khaled Husseini transporting us to unknown mystical and cultural dimensions. Zaha Hadid, bending the rules of gravity and making the unimaginable possible in architecture. Caressing the eyes, nostrils and taste buds like the art of Julia child in Culinary. Bringing forth new forms by folding paper through the origami art by Akita Yoshizawa not forgetting the designers, wine makers and many others. All very extraordinary creative artists producing captivating pieces of Art. but mostly, the art of making music, when the musician uses his muse to make music.

Hans Florian Zimmer is a German film score composer and music producer, has been on my top list of artists who are capable of teleportation in the literal sense. His music has the ability to teleport one to a different time, place and dimension. Just like in the movie interstellar or inception, for which he composed the soundtrack to.

In Hans Zimmer and Friends-diamond in the desert screening, while he is having a conversation with Pharell Williams, he explains that when he is composing, his prime focus is on Doris. He asks himself if Doris would like what he produced and if she would be touched by it? He elaborates that Doris is an ordinary hardworking lady who uses her hard-earned wages to treat herself to two hours at the movie theater and Hans takes this opportunity to make those precious two hours worthy of every penny that she has worked for. So, Doris is his muse. In my opinion that is a massive motivation as there are millions of Doris’s out here who truly appreciate the effort and time invested in bringing color to our audio.
